Phthalates exposure as environmental risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus

چکیده
Phthalates exposure occurs in all areas, such as foods' plastic packaging, cosmetics, and others. Previous studies showed that phthalates are associated with the prevalence of T2DM. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is caused by a combination defective insulin secretion pancreatic β-cells insulin-resistance. This study aimed to investigate whether phthalate an environmental risk factor for A case-control was conducted among residents South Tangerang district from June 2020 February 2021 using purposive sampling technique. The cases were patients diagnosed T2DM HbA1c>6.5% random blood sugar<span underline;">>200 mg/dL, history treatment. respondents' urines collected evaluated liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry (LC/MS). total 47 controls recruited study. lowest monomethyl (MEP) mono (2-ethyl-5-hydroxyhexyl) (MEHHP) 5.37 µg/L 2.02 µg/L, respectively. On multivariable regression analysis, high urinary MEP level (>131.91 µg/L) independently (OR: 3.754, 95% CI: 1.559–8.811, p-value: 0.002). likely has significant impact on human health than MEHHP.

Screening of LEP gene polymorphisms as a risk factor for obesity and type 2 diabetes in Iraqis
The prevalence of obesity and diabetes changes dramatically with lifestyle and unequal risk among individuals have made scientists interested to understand how the environment interferes with genetic factors to make it so-called genetic predisposition. This study aimed to explore wherethe most variable region is in leptin gene and analyse microsatellite repeats with direct sequencing in Iraqis...
متن کاملObstructive sleep apnea as a risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus
Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is independently associated with cardiovascular and cardiometabolic risk in several large epidemiologic studies. OSA leads to several physiologic disturbances such as intermittent hypoxia, sleep fragmentation, and increase in autonomic tone. These disturbances have been associated with insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in animal and human studi...
متن کاملMeat Consumption as a Risk Factor for Type 2 Diabetes
Disease risk factors identified in epidemiological studies serve as important public health tools, helping clinicians identify individuals who may benefit from more aggressive screening or risk-modification procedures, allowing policymakers to prioritize intervention programs, and encouraging at-risk individuals to modify behavior and improve their health. These factors have been based primaril...
متن کاملAir pollution as a risk factor for type 2 diabetes.
Recent studies in both humans and animals suggest that air pollution is an important risk factor for type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). However, the mechanism by which air pollution mediates propensity to diabetes is not fully understood. While a number of epidemiologic studies have shown a positive association between ambient air pollution exposure and risk for T2DM, some studies have not found ...
متن کاملAlcohol as a Risk Factor for Type 2 Diabetes
OBJECTIVE To clarify the dose-response relationship between alcohol consumption and type 2 diabetes. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS A systematic computer-assisted and hand search was conducted to identify relevant articles with longitudinal design and quantitative measurement of alcohol consumption. Adjustment was made for the sick-quitter effect. We used fractional polynomials in a meta-regress...
